Air France Airbus A330 missing after leaving Brazil for Paris
Résumé
Le 31 mai 2009, le vol AF447 décolle de l’aéroport de Rio de Janeiro Galeão à destination de Paris Charles de Gaulle. L’avion est en contact avec le centre de contrôle brésilien d’ATLANTICO sur la route INTOL – SALPU – ORARO au FL350. Il n’y a plus de communications avec l’équipage après le passage du point INTOL. A 2 h 10, un message de position et des messages de maintenance sont émis par le système automatique ACARS. Des corps et des éléments de l’avion seront retrouvés à partir du 6 juin 2009 par les marines nationales française et brésilienne.

| Bodies from Air France Flight 447 are found |

General writes " After 3 failed searches, millions of dollars spent, hundreds of lives lost, thousands of friends and family hurt, and the world watching, investigators have found the wreckage and some bodies from Air France Flight 447.
The wreckage was located less than 6 miles north of Flight 447’s last know location. Side-scan sonar detectors attached to an unmanned submarine discovered a field of debris across the ocean floor nearly 600 feet off the coast of Brazil.
Black and white images which you can see below were taken by the Remus 6000, one of the unmanned submarines that is being used to comb the ocean floor for the wreckage. The parts photographed include parts of the fuselage, landing gear, wings, and engine.

General writes "Although the official list of victims of Air France Flight 447 has yet to be released by Air France, friends, relatives, and colleagues are starting to report the names of some of the people who are currently missing. 228 people are feared dead and the chances of finding any survivors have dwindled. According to the Brazilian Agency of Civil Aviation, the official list will be released by Air France.

AF 447 located: statement by Pierre-Henri Gourgeon, CEO AIR FRANCE - KLM
‘Air France has been informed by the BEA, the French Air Accident Investigation Bureau, that the Airbus A330 that crash-landed into the sea en route between Rio and Paris-Charles de Gaulle on 1 June 2009, has been located.
This discovery, coming only days after the Air France and Airbus funded fourth sea search was launched, is good news indeed since it gives hope that information on the causes of the accident, so far unresolved, will be forthcoming. Answers will perhaps therefore be found to the questions that, since 1 June 2009, families of the victims, our airline and the aviation community worldwide have asked as to how this tragic accident occurred.
Speaking on behalf of the airline, I would like to thank not only the French authorities who employed hitherto unheard of means to pursue searches but also the crew of the Alucia and all the teams who are going to take part in, as we all hope, the recovery of the flight recorders’.
